Hi, I’m Shenek!
I am a homeschooling mommy to 3 ages 8, 5, and almost 2. I feel that homeschooling them is one of the most important things I will ever do. In 2017, with the help of the Lord, I am determined to be more organized, plan out our days better, and to overall, be more intentional. While I want my children to have a great education, I want them to have fun along the way. I want them to enjoy learning! I have learned having little to no plan leads to minimal things being accomplished topped with anxiety, and not much fun.
A little about my background: I have a PhD in Statistics and a BS in Math and Political Science. After deciding to go to graduate school in Statistics, my plans were to be a college professor, but boy oh boy did those plans get changed! While in graduate school, I married the love of my life, Andre. While still working on my degree, I took my first full-time “adult” job working at a community college. During the time that I was working on this job, Andre and I decided that it was best for our family if I stayed at home with our daughter Annaliese who was only one at the time. So after I completed my contract with the college for the school year, I began my journey as a stay at home mom. Fortunately, I had no student loan debt, so it was easier for us to make this decision. Needless to say, I love being a stay at home mommy!
Incorporating STEM Activities into Our Homeschooling
As the new year begins, one of my primary goals is to make learning more fun for my children. I want to do a better job at doing activities with them that require more higher level thinking while being fun at the same time! So, my plan is to expose my children to many STEM activities in the new year.
Live Free Math Lessons
I also would like to begin offering free online math lessons to some of my younger cousins/family members. I believe that if a child has a strong foundation in math, many other doors will open up for them. I am thankful to the Lord, for blessing me to be good in math, and I want to share this gift with my extended family. Fortunately, because of technology it is very feasible to do LIVE math lessons with them online. I’d love for YOUR child to also participate in these math sessions! Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in learning more about these math lessons that I’ll be doing online for FREE!
So I have a LOT to do. Come along with us on this ride. It’s going to be FUN!!
